Loretta Fois, Alto

Loretta Fois is a performing artist, choreographer and teacher who works with movement, music and language. She received her MFA in Choreography from Ohio State University and her BA in Theatre/Chemistry from Holy Cross College. She is obtaining her Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies in Expressive and Creative Arts from Salve Regina University. Loretta is Director of Dance at Raritan Valley Community College, and the Artistic Director of The Espressione Corporea Project, facilitating expressive arts classes and workshops in an effort to provide tools to foster greater awareness of others and self, stimulate creativity, and improve communication skills. She works with a variety of populations, including visual artists, musicians, therapists, dancers, educators and clergy. (Please see www.corporea.org).

She served on the DanceNJ Board for over 20 years, was a teaching artist for NJ Department of Education and Paper Mill Playhouse Outreach program, and served on the Writing Team for the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards in Dance. She has served on faculty at Mason Gross School of the Arts, City University of New York, Ohio State University, Union County College, and New Jersey School of Ballet. She has been the recipient of a number of grants and was thrilled to receive a 2017 and 2011 Choreography Fellowship from the NJ State Council on the Arts.

Loretta was born in New York, and has lived in both the United States and Italy. She currently resides in Branchburg, NJ with her husband and three children. She has sung with the folk group at Our Lady of the Mount in Warren, NJ, was a soloist with Soul Singers in Rome, Italy and cantors with the Umoja Imani Songsters at St. Matthias in Somerset. She studies Espressione Corporea and Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a method of learning musical concepts through movement. Loretta is delighted to be singing with Caritas.
